One of Thailand's wonderful English signs; Time to Happyness

The ferry to Koh Kut had sunk a few days before but the
Koh Kham ferry got us here in one piece! Here's Franco taking
it easy.

what all the commotion is about.

Don't think we spent all our time drinking, here we are
visiting a temple for a bit of culture.

Thai Survivor
Here you can see the boys in action in the
Thai Survivor Show. We took the boat from Koh Kham to neighbouring
Koh Maak where we rented some motorbikes. We took the bikes
where no man had gone before (and the bikes were probably
not supposed to go) and Paolo's bike ran out of petrol in
the deepest darkest corner of a ginormous coconut plantation.
Lucky Robbo had his Swiss Armyknife with him, we found a
plastic bottle, cut it in half, and used it to catch petrol
from Franco's bike that we turned upside down, and put it
in Paolo's bike.
By this time we were a bit thirsty so Robbo husked some
coconuts on a spike and the Swiss Armyknife did the rest. |

Kwan getting a dose of coconut, Paolo had met her during
our daytrip to Nong Nooch Gardens and she decided to join
us for the island trip
|
The ordeal is over, all have survived the extreme adventures
of the day and enjoying a cold beer at Rudy's house with
a good view out to Koh Kham
|
Having a bit of fun while we wait for the boat to take us
back to Koh Kham that forgot us as usual
|
A few days later. We have chartered a boat to take us snorkelling
at a few sites for the day. Paolo and Kwan wading ashore
on Koh Lang

|
Another one of Thailand's mysterious signs...
|
At the end of the beach there is a small temple where fishermen
make offerings to Buddha when it is bad weather in the hope
that it will improve
|
For some bizarre reason they make huge wooden phalluses
to please Buddha. Last year they were all standing on the
front verandah of the shrine, now most of them were dumped
behind the building.
|
We are consulting with our Thai expert on Buddha to find
out exactly how sacred this is as the imagination starts
running wild seeing these huge wooden things.
|
The verdict is that this place is not all that super-sacred
and permission is given for a bit of creative photography.

Paolo enjoying himself on the beach.

Robbo enjoying a beer on the way back to the island after
saving a snorkelling tourist that our skipper had overlooked
and nearly ran over.

When your can is empty you need to put it in a bin, and
by the looks of it this is a bin.

Couple of kids that live on the island.

Paolo and Kwan in the sunset
(Paolo had chosen Kwantittie over quality, heh, heh, heh...)
|
The best dose of crabs we've ever had; two big dishes of
crab in yellow Thai curry, washed down with a bottle of
white wine on our last night before Franco, Paolo and Kwanno
head back to the mainland.
|
This one came around every now and then to try and eat some
of the geckos that lived in my roof

WARNING!
Last time we went to
Koh Kham we booked a mini bus from Pattaya to the Koh Kham
pier, but the bastards of Malibu Travel took us to the Koh
Chang ferry despite our repeated requests, and then refused
to take us to the Koh Kham ferry, only one of their assholes
was willing to do it for a big sum of money. Finally after
a lot of hassling we found a truck to take us there but
the Malibu Travel assholes could not give a shit that we
had been assured that we would be taken to the Koh Kham
ferry and just abandoned us.
So when you book your minibus tell the travel agent that
you do not want to go with the MALIBU MORONS but instead
go with Thida Tours, their office is right at the pier for
Koh Kham. Thida Tours phone numbers are 039-538084 and 084-1073050
There are several piers where boats depart from, tell the
driver you need to go to Komluangchoumporn pier.
On my most recent visit I travelled with Kiattipol Tours,
who have an office 100 metre from the Koh Kham pier. It
took three phone calls until they agreed to take me to the
Koh Kham ferry instead of the Koh Chang ferry, and I had
to pay extra, but I thought they have to get out of their
way for me so fair enough, petrol is not cheap. I also had
several discussions with the driver about where I had to
be dropped off, as if none of these people had ever heard
of Koh Kham. Then at some point through the journey I see
familiar territory and counted myself lucky that I was gonna
end up at the right pier this time. But then, would you
Fuckin' believe it, we stop at their office which was located
right by the Koh Kham pier , and everyone had to get off
to change busses, so what was the big deal with me wanting
to go here which appeared so difficult at the time of booking,
them pretending that I made a diffuclut request and then
charging me extra while I actually travelled less distance
on their bus as I did not do the last leg with them?
